The Opers Ticket

A human who liked opera
Had called his sister Anastasia
He had an extra seat to give away.
But she had left already for the day.

His brother said, he'd like to go,
But Wagner's Meistersinger, - No.
He called his neighbor Maryanne
And said "I wonder if you can

Go to the opera tonight at eight?"
So sorry, was the answer, much too late.
Friend Herbert went there yesterday.
He called his boss, again a Nay.

He fared no better with aunt Sue
Who said that she tonight was due
To visit mother. Try as he might
The ticket went unused that night.

The human who had meant so well
With anger swore "oh, go to hell".
An empty seat though, was not bitter,
Enjoying it's night off without a sitter.
