The Meeting
Two humans on a sunny day
Are going someplace on their way
Along a busy city street
Until by accident they meet.
They know each other from somewhere,
Maybe it was a business affair,
Maybe a wedding, or a football game
But neither can recall the other's name.
They greet each other with a smile.
Then stand there chatting for a while.
And so they talk and talk together
About some trivia, about the weather
And this and that and such.
Just talking, but not saying much.
They carry on and on and on
But wish they could be gone.
Till one says: "Glad we met today."
With this they part and go their way
Still wond'ring as the say Good-bye
- Who was this other guy?
