The Medication

A human with a nasty cold
Went to his doctor and was told
To go on home and go to bed,
"And take these pills," the doctor said.

"Take two at waking, two at night,
And very soon you should be right."
So, as the patient homewards went
He hoped he would be on the mend.

The pills went to the bathroom cabinet -
The patient duly took a nap in bed.
But soon he woke because of chills
And asked his wife to get the pills.

Again he woke deep in the night,
His innards had a frightful fight,
And till a quarter after one
He had to run, and run, and run,

Till he was weak and tuckered out.
He wondered what brought that about. -
The bathroom cabinet held many pills,
For migraine, toothaches, and assorted ills.

His wife had grabbed some pills of old
Instead the new ones for the cold.
The problem was: erroneous medication.
The pills he took were anti-constipation.
