The Hitchhiker
A human went to Santa Fe
To see Michelle, his fiancée.
And since he'd lost, oh shame,
His money in a poker game
He hitch hiked all the way
South from Cheyenne to Santa Fe.
Then in a rattling pickup truck
He once again ran out of luck
When on a windy, stormy day
He lost his hat, it blew away.
And later in the pickup bed
The sun was burning fiery red,
So that the skin hereto protected
Was most unpleasantly affected.
The opposite occurred next day
Just at the edge of Santa Fe.
A thunderstorm was blowing in
To soak him to the very skin.
Then further without fail
It pelted him with icy hail.
When he arrived, ice cold,
He paled, when he was told:
"She left this morn at ten
To see you in Cheyenne."
