The Eagle watcher
A human who liked nature took his car
Into the western mountains high
Where with binoculars and from afar
To watch the wildlife and identify
The critters he saw on his trail,
Such as a marmot, mountain sheep,
Some hawks, a blue jay, and some quail,
And even elk down in a canyon deep.
Then finally he found an eagle's nest
Adjacent to a pretty waterfall,
Built on a ledge, below the crest,
That jutted from the canyon wall.
He watched the eagle as it rose
Above him in the firmament
Until a missive hit his nose;
The eagle was incontinent.
