The Cookie Thief
A human, barely four years old
Had helped himself to candy.
"Don't ever do this," he was told,
No matter, even if it's handy."
That afternoon he came upon
Some sugar cookies on a shelf
And thought: Maybe just one,
And then, - he helped himself.
When mother found this out
She was not really mad,
She was quite civil, didn't shout,
And here is what she said:
"Who told you that you may,
When I this morning told you NO."
The youngster knew just what to say:
"My teddybear said so."
