The City Cowboy

A human living in a city, not quite wealthy,
Did think it would be much more healthy
For him to be a cowboy in the open on the range
And so made up his mind to make that change.

When he arrived out in the West
He went into a bar for beer and rest
Where cowboys drinking beer shot dice.
And there he asked a cowboy for advice.

"OK," the cowboy said, "here's what you need,
A thirty dollar horse, some oats for feed,
A wide brimmed hat that's sweaty and looks old,
A battered rolled up blanket for when's cold.

When walking you must swagger just a bit.
You need some tin tobacco for to chew and spit.
And in your mouth a toothpick that will last all day,
A muddy beat-up pickup with a bale of hay.

A rifle and a mounted gun rack in the back,
Some barbed wire, rusty tools, an empty sack.
And then for sitting properly on top of cattle chutes
A pair of 700 Dollar snake skin cowboy boots."
