Song of a Snowbird
The wind is a-blowing, it's freezing,
The noses get red and the lips they turn blue.
The people are coughing and sneezing.
..........But in Yuma it's 72.
The snowdrifts get bigger and bigger.
Who knows how much bigger they'll be.
And the ice on the lake it gets thicker.
..........But in Yuma it's 73.
The dog at the fire is shaking and growling.
The windows they rattle, and so does the door,
While outside the snow storm is howling.
..........But in Yuma it's 74.
The snow is piled high on the hard frozen ground.
The mailman he fights it, is barely alive.
e slides and he stumbles along his cold round.
..........But in Yuma it's 75.
It's either cold rain, or it's snowing ;
The winter is up to its usual tricks,
While ice storms and cold winds keep blowing.
..........But in Yuma it's 76.
The temps, they are falling, they dip.
It's cold like the record of 1811.
The country is shiv'ring in winter's cold grip.
..........But in Yuma it's 77.
Do I stay in winter, hell no, I am gone,
Since staying means tempting one's fate.
I'd rather stay toasty and warm in the sun.
..........Since in Yuma it's 78.
Up north it is freezing, near twenty below.
It's cloudy and windy, the sun doesn't shine.
The wind is ferocious and bringing more snow.
..........But in Yuma it's 79.
Down south it is warm and the sky mostly clear.
The weather back home is surely a bummer.
And here is the reason why we are down here:
..........In Yuma it's summer.
