No Regrets
We humans come into this world
As babies in the spring of our life,
As little Pinkies, finally uncurled;
Without a care until the age of five.
Then off to school to learn to write,
Do math, learn Latin, memorize
Until we think we know what's right.
The school we think has made us wise.
The spring is gone and now it's summer.
Gone are the dreams, now it is toil and strive.
To find the right employment is a bummer.
And then we marry, take a husband or a wife.
The summer changes, hurries to the fall.
The autumn will be time to read and rest.
The kids now grown, are strong and tall.
This season, we are told, will be the best.
Except we know that winter's on its way.
We do slow down, instead of run we crawl.
The journey was great fun and on the final day
I will have no regrets, just let the curtain fall.
